Bike Patrol

The TCU police Bicycle Patrol unit was established in July 1996. The idea of then newly-appointed Chief of  Police Steve McGee, bike patrol makes police officers more accessible to the campus community.  As a result, four Trek mountain bikes were approved for purchase by the Student Affairs Division and the TCU Bike Patrol Unit was launched. All of the bike officers you see riding around campus have attended the Ft. Worth Police Department's Bicycle Officer Patrol Techniques 40 hour training classes and are fully qualified to respond to any situation where a police presence is needed. The bike officers also have an advantage in being better able to communicate with the student body, faculty, and staff members in a more intimate, interactive fashion than can vehicular patrol.
